The FMC Landfill is located approximately 7 miles West of Elma, Iowa in between County Roads, Windfall and Addison Ave. The physical address is 3354 330th Street Elma, IA 50628

The FMC Landfill accepts waste from Floyd, Mitchell, Chickasaw Counties and the towns of Elma and Chester in Howard County.

The FMC Landfill accepts Household waste, Construction & Demolition waste, Contaminated Soils, Non-friable Asbestos, Appliances, Truck/Car tires, Scrap metals, Recycling, Household Hazardous Waste and more.

Items NOT Acceptable for Disposal:

Free liquids, deposit beverage containers, brush and yard waste, hazardous waste, and red bag medical waste, animal carcasses such as livestock and deer.

Clean corrugated cardboard.

You will be assessed a charge for having these items in your load.

We do accept sharps when placed in red biohazard container. These containers can be purchased at the landfill.

Appointments must be made to drop off this material.

Household Hazardous Waste may be disposed by appointment only

All loads must originate in our service area of Floyd- Mitchell & Chickasaw counties plus the towns of Chester and Elma, Iowa.

When in doubt, just ask the friendly and knowledgeable Landfill staff.

Household Hazardous Waste includes but is not limited to- Batteries, Lightbulbs, Pesticides, Insecticides, Herbicides, Oil Based Paints, Aerosol Cans, Sharps, Used Oil and Antifreeze, Cleaners and more.

There is no charge for residents to dispose of HHW however we do have a charge for businesses.

If you are a business and have HHW to dispose of please give us a call for more information.

The Landfills’ hours are from 7am-2:30 pm for large loads, and 2:45 pm for small loads.

The Household Hazardous Waste building is open by appointment only during the hours of 8am-2pm,call to schedule appointments for Household Hazardous Waste.

There is a minimum charge of $7.00, from that point on the tipping fee is prorated at the current rate

per ton of waste. Each vehicle must be weighed for accuracy.

Yes, all loads coming to the Landfill are required to be tarped and/or secured. There is a $20 fine if you choose not to follow this rule.
